Al-Anon to mark 68 years in Chatham

Family and friends whose lives are affected by a loved one’s addiction are invited to take part in a Chatham Al-Anon event April 27.

The event is being held to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the Chatham Al-Anon District 9 organization and will be held at Holy Trinity Church located at 81 Selkirk St. in Chatham.

Al-Anon is a mutual support group, utilizing a 12-step approach for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.

Two speakers will share their experience, strength and hope. Alcoholics Anonymous member Mildred F. from Thornhill will speak at 11 a.m., followed by Al-Anon speaker Ann F. from Ohio after lunch.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and also features a potluck lunch whereby attendees are invited to bring a hot or cold dish to share. There will also be prizes and a 50-50 raffle.
