When the next provincial election is called, Thamesville’s Steve Pinsonneault may be representing Lambton-Kent-Middlesex at Queen’s Park.
Following a nomination meeting in Strathroy on Jan. 27, the long-time Chatham-Kent councillor was elected to fill the Ontario PC Party vacancy left empty when former MPP Monte McNaughton stepped away from politics last fall.
A by-election to fill the Ontario Legislature seat is expected to be held later this year.
Pinsonneault, owner of several small businesses, clinched the Ontario PC Party nomination, besting opponent Neal Roberts, chief of the Middlesex London Paramedic Service.
In a media release from the party, Pinsonneault said the health and prosperity of L-K-M residents are his top priorities.
“I’m running with the Ontario PC Party in order to continue to building the Wallaceburg hospital, create good-paying local jobs and fight to make life affordable for the people of our community,” he said.
The husband, father of three adult children, and veteran volunteer firefighter has a motto of “Get It Done for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.”
Former MPP McNaughton said Pinsonneault has what it takes to get it done.
“Working alongside Doug Ford, Steve is the right candidate to bring growth to the riding,” McNaughton said in the media release. “I’ve seen Steve in action, and I know that his grassroots approach makes him the right candidate for our riding.”
Pinsonneault has been representing East Kent resident on Chatham-Kent council since 2006.
