Bogus 911 calls lead to charges 

A Chatham man faces mischief charges after someone called repeatedly into 911 dispatch early Tuesday morning to report medical emergencies.

Emergency crews responded to a Grand Avenue West location at 4:40 a.m. for numerous medical emergency calls made by a man.

Officers attended and found the claims were false, police say.

A 39-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with public mischief.

Bail violation

A Chatham man faces a variety of charges, including skipping court.

However, shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, police say the man walked into the courthouse on Grand Avenue. Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court on a previous date. He was arrested and released with a new court date.

An hour later, police attend a residential building on King Street East in Chatham to investigate a bail violation. Upon arrival, officers located the man and confirmed he was bound by an undertaking with conditions prohibiting him from attending the address. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

A 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and held pending a bail hearing. He is facing the following charges: possession of stolen property, assault causing bodily harm, and two failing to comply with undertaking.

Warrant arrest

A missed court date in October has led to a Walpole Island woman facing additional charges.

Police say when she missed the October court date, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Police spotted her on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg on Monday afternoon. The warrants were confirmed, and the woman was arrested.

A 29-year-old Walpole Island woman was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. She faces the following charges: uttering threats, robbery, theft, failing to comply with a release order, two counts of possession of stolen property, and four counts of failing to attend court.

Skipped court date

Missing a court date caught up with a Chatham man late Monday night.

At 11:50 p.m. while conducting a well-being check on Faircourt Avenue in Chatham, officers located the man. Officers confirmed the man was wanted on a bench warrant for failing to attend court.

A 48-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a new court date. He faces the following charges: assault, assault with a weapon, mischief, theft, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
