Another domestic violence incident

A Chatham man faces five assault charges following a call Wednesday to Chatham-Kent police over a disturbance.

At 10:25 p.m., police responded to Victoria Avenue in Chatham. Officers learned of recent and historical occurrences where a man assaulted a woman, police said. They arrested the man and transported him to police headquarters.

A 30-year-old Chatham man is charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm and three counts of assault. The man was held pending a bail hearing.

Failing to comply

Apparently, following court orders was not in the cards for a Wallaceburg man.

Police say they were called about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday of a specific man’s whereabouts.

Officers went to that location in Chatham and found the man. They confirmed he was wanted on several warrants for failing to comply with a probation order.

A 55-year-old Wallaceburg man currently faces the following charges: two counts of uttering threats and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Skipped court date

In what began as a well-being check on a man hanging over the Fifth Street Bridge, police arrested a local man Wednesday.

Just before 1 p.m., officers check on a man who had been observed leaning over the Fifth Street Bridge in Chatham.

Responding officers located the man and found him to be under the influence of an unknown substance. The officers also confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court concerning a charge of possession of stolen property.

A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He faces the following charges: failing to attend court and possessing stolen property. He was held pending a bail hearing.
