Final upgrades on the Murray Street Bridge Rehabilitation project will see the structure closed to larger watercrafts that require the use of the lift span.

The restriction will take place from Oct. 16 to Nov. 20, allowing crews to complete upgrades to the bridge’s electrical components and sensors.

According to a municipal media release, the bridge will remain open to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians with short-term impacts during intermittent closures as part of bridge testing and commissioning procedures. Smaller boats will be able to pass beneath the bridge during this period.

Work on the bridge is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023. Included in the revamp is the rehabilitation of the steel bridge deck on the moveable portion of the bridge, various concrete repairs and improvements to the lift mechanism and infrastructure.
