Two local men are dead following a weekend crash near Highgate.
Chatham-Kent police say the crash occurred shortly after midnight Monday when a pickup truck hit a tree.
Preliminary investigation reveals that a 27-year-old Highgate man and a 25-year-old Ridgetown man were occupants of a pickup truck traveling east on Teetzel Line between Kenesserie Road and Tower Road. The truck lost control and collided with a large tree. A local resident was alerted to the collision and notified 9-1-1.
Emergency crews located two deceased persons inside the vehicle. Through investigation, the occupants have been identified, with confirmation via DNA pending.
