’Burg man faces seven assault charges

A Wallaceburg man has a lot to answer for following an outburst Monday evening in Dresden.

At 5:47 p.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a disturbance on Park Street in Dresden.

Police arrived on the scene and located a large group of people yelling. Through investigation, police learned a man and woman were in an altercation witnessed by bystanders. The bystanders attempted to intervene and were also assaulted by the man, police say.

The woman was transported to the hospital by EMS for medical attention.

A 21-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, uttering threats and six counts of assault.

E-bike stolen, man charged

At 9:15 p.m. Monday evening, police responded to Greenfield Lane in Chatham for a theft investigation.

Police learned an e-bike had been stolen between June 16 and June 18. The bike was also believed to have been seen at an address on Victoria Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, police formed grounds to arrest a man for the theft.

Officers also learned that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a release order.

A 39-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft, possessing stolen property and failing to comply with a release order.
