Weapons charges

A Charing Cross man has to answer to charges after someone pointed a gun at another person Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after noon, Chatham-Kent police responded to Grand Avenue East in Chatham for a weapons investigation.

Upon police arrival, the man was found holding the firearm and placed it on a chair when directed.

The man was taken into custody without incident.

The firearm was identified as a pellet gun.

Through investigation, police learned the victims walked into an alleyway after hearing a commotion. Upon seeing the victims, the man pointed the firearm at them and commented he would shoot if they got any closer.

A 77-year-old Charing Cross man was arrested and charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm and uttering threats. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Assault in Chatham

A Chatham man faces charges after a store employee got shoved Tuesday on Lacroix Street.

Police got the call shortly after 11 a.m. Through investigation, police learned the man entered the store and became upset with an employee. The man pushed the employee knocking off his glasses and left the store, police say.

A 36-year-old Chatham man was located later in the day and arrested. He was charged with assault and mischief.

Unhappy Landings

A Chatham woman has to deal with assault charges following a domestic disturbance Tuesday in Chatham.

At 3:45 p.m., police responded to Landings Place for a domestic dispute.

Police learned a woman and a man engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated when the woman punched the man in the face.

A 34-year-old Chatham woman was charged with assault.

Failing to comply x 2

Police say two people who weren’t supposed to be together were together Tuesday in Chatham, and the chemistry was not good.

At 10:56 p.m., police responded to Wellington Street East in Chatham for a domestic dispute.

Police arrived and found the man with the woman. The man was bound by a release order with conditions including not communicating with the woman.

The 39-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

The 37-year-old Chatham woman was also arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order.
