He showed up to face the music

A Chatham man walked into the courthouse Tuesday morning and straight into Chatham-Kent police custody.

Police say the man went to the Ontario Court of Justice on Grand Avenue West in Chatham shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was related to a criminal harassment investigation.  

The man also faced additional charges for a breach of a release order investigation reported on April 15. 

A 27-year-old Chatham man is currently charged with assault, criminal harassment, and three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. 

Full bag, full charges

A Chatham woman faces theft charges following an incident Tuesday evening at a Grand Avenue West business in Chatham.

Police learned the woman entered the business, filled a bag with merchandise and left without paying for the items. With the assistance of surveillance video and witness descriptions, the woman was located near King Street and Fifth Street. 

The merchandise was recovered and returned to the store. 

A 31-year-old Chatham woman was charged with theft and possessing stolen property.
