Man shot in downtown Chatham

A man is recovering in hospital after being shot early Sunday morning in downtown Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police say they have a suspect in custody.

The victim, a 32-year-old adult male, was shot after having a confrontation with a second male person while in the area of King Street West and Fifth Street, police say, about 1 a.m. Sunday.

The accused, a 25-year-old male, is charged with attempted murder.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries and is listed in stable condition, police say.

The investigation has determined this to be an isolated incident between persons known to each other.
