Skipped court, now faces drug charges

A local man is facing drug charges following a stop by Chatham-Kent police Thursday.

At 3:20 p.m., police located the man on William Street North in Chatham.

The officer recognized the man from previous interactions and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Upon search incident to arrest, the man was found possessing suspected methamphetamine.

A 40-year-old Chatham-Kent man was additionally charged with possessing a controlled substance. He was released with conditions and a future court date.

Probation violation

A morning stroll by a Chatham woman landed her in handcuffs…well that and being wanted on an outstanding warrant, Chatham-Kent police say.

At 6:32 a.m. Thursday morning, police stopped the woman on Richmond Street in Chatham. The officer recognized the woman from previous interactions and confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A 42-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was charged with failing to comply with a probation order. She was released with conditions and a future court date.

Compliance concerns

Another recognizable face, another arrest.

At 2:12 p.m. on Thursday, police stopped the man on Murray Street in Chatham. The officer recognized the man from previous interactions and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with failing to comply with a release order and held pending a bail hearing.
