A dog park for Dresden?

Dresden area pooches will be lapping it up if a new dog park comes to the community.

To help further the discussion and gauge public response the municipality is inviting public comment on the possibility of creating a Dog Off-Leash Recreation Area (DOLRA).

Residents interested in commenting on the issue are invited to answer the survey currently posted online at www.letstalkchatham-kent.ca. The consultation period is open until May 2 at 4:30 p.m.

A DOLRA is a fenced in area where people can legally take their pups to exercise off leash in a controlled environment.

The Tony Stranak Conservation Area has been chosen as the site for the park. The land is owned by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority but is leased by Chatham-Kent.

The municipal currently has two DOLRAS, including the Happy Trails Off-Leash Dog Park in Wallaceburg and the John Waddell Dog Park in Chatham.

Following the survey, a report will be prepared for council’s review.
