Person clubbed with a shovel

A Dresden man faces charges after someone got bonked with a shovel in Dresden Tuesday evening.

At 7:38 p.m., police responded to Brown Street in Dresden for an assault investigation.

Police learned the victim was conducting a well-being check on a man, who resided in the back of the property. When doing so, the man aggressively charged at the victim with a shovel and struck them, knocking them to the ground, police say. The victim sustained physical injury.

A 24-year-old Dresden man is charged with assault with a weapon. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

B&E and assault

At 10:23 p.m. Tuesday evening, police responded to Grand Avenue East in Chatham for an assault investigation.

Police arrived on the scene and learned the man entered the residence through a window to retrieve personal items.

A physical altercation ensued when a neighbour confronted him, resulting in the neighbour being physically injured.

A 54-year-old Windsor man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and two counts of assault.

Drunk on a bus 

A local man spent time in the drunk tank Tuesday after a disturbance on a city bus in Chatham.

Shortly after 12 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on a bus on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police attended and found a man intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

A 74-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was held in custody until he was sober.
