In jail since late 2020, a local man recently pleaded guilty to human trafficking and other charges, leading to a sentence of six years behind bars.
In December of 2020, Chatham-Kent police responded to a disturbance call at a motel in Chatham.
Police arrested a man and charged him with domestic and drug-related charges. However, his victim said he had been exploiting her. As a result, on Christmas Eve of 2020, he faced additional human trafficking-related charges.
Aged 33 at the time of the arrest, the 36-year-old Chatham man pled guilty last week.
The Chatham Voice does not have the name of the man at this time.
