The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) declared a flu outbreak in its complex continuing care unit Tuesday.
CKHA brass, in consultation with the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit, made the announcement late Tuesday that its fourth floor was in a flu outbreak. Hospital officials said they will continue to work in consultation with CK Public Health until the outbreak is declared over.
As part of CKHA’s infection prevention and control guidelines, a number of additional initiatives have been implemented in response to the outbreak on the CCC unit. CKHA will continue following these measures until CK Public Health rescinds the outbreak orders.
For those who develop influenza-like symptoms, they are infectious one-to-three days before symptoms start, and remain infectious until five days after the onset of symptoms.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
