After months of being closed for upgrades, the emergency department entrance at the Wallaceburg hospital has reopened.
All patients and families visiting the hospital can again park in the emergency room parking lot, allowing them to access the Dora Drive entrance 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Patients and visitors attending diagnostic, medicine, ambulatory care, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), and Rapid Access to Medicine (RAAM) services are advised to continue to use the main entrance doors facing Margaret Avenue.
The front main doors of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Wallaceburg site are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., all patients and visitors must use the emergency department entrance.
As part of the ongoing replacement power plant project, the emergency entrance was closed to allow for renovations to connect the new power plant to the existing facility. The work included the enlargement of the emergency department waiting room.
CKHA is moving forward to submit its stage two functional plan documents to the Ministry of Health later this month as redevelopment of the site continues.
