A furniture deal went south Wednesday evening, leading two a pair of arrests.

Chatham-Kent police say they got the call about 9:20 p.m.

Officers learned the victim met two men to sell them a piece of furniture. The two men refused to pay and assaulted the victim, police say.

The victim sought medical attention for the injuries.

The two men were located and arrested.

A 16-year-old Wallaceburg male and a 44-year-old Wallaceburg man were charged with assault

Accident leads to impaired charge

At 10:20 p.m., emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle collision on Queens Line near Dillon Road in Raleigh Township Wednesday night.

The vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and rested on the highway’s south side.

The driver and lone occupant sustained injuries from the collision and was transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Police spoke with the driver after he received treatment, and they believed he had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. The man underwent breath tests and was arrested.

A 21-year-old Chatham man is charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

Woman charged with impaired

Shortly before 2:00 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of an impaired driver on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police arrived on the scene and located the woman.

Police believed she had been driving while under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

She was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

A 41-year-old Wallaceburg woman is charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
