A strange time in Chatham recently, as Chatham-Kent police on Monday night found a person who had been stabbed a day earlier and had to negotiate another person out of their home.

On Monday evening, police received reports of a party who had been stabbed. Officers attended the residence on Stanley Avenue in Chatham and located the victim.

Police say they learned the incident happened the day prior.

The officers also received information that a firearm was discharged. They canvassed the area and several neighbors heard a loud bang.

Police went to the residence where the bang was reported, and after approximately an hour of negotiating, they say a man surrendered to police.

As the man was searched, officers located several rounds of ammunition on him and methamphetamine, police say.

They obtained a search warrant for the residence where they located a Taser and a sawed-off rifle.

A 43 year-old Chatham man is charged with four counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, and one count possession of a schedule 1 substance.

The accused was also wanted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service for failing to attend court.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
