Chatham-Kent police say two RetroFesters were killed Friday evening when their vehicle was hit head on.

Police say the crash took place about 7 p.m. on Queen’s Line at Dillon Road west of Chatham.

Preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Windsor man hit a westbound pickup truck. Police say the westbound vehicle then slammed into an older-model Buick that had five occupants.

A fourth vehicle veered off the rod to avoid the collision, but was indirectly involved.

Police say two of the occupants of the Buick were pronounced dead at the scene.

All others involved in the crash were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

Out of respect for the families, the names of the two deceased occupants will not be released at this time.

The collision remains under investigation by the Traffic Management Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Josh Flikweert at 519-355-1092 or joshuaf@chatham-kent.ca.

  1. Why was a retro car cruise on a major highway? Speed limit I believe is 90 km.
You cannot control traffic on a this highway, shutting it down for a cruise is impossible
When it was the river road loop, Police could control traffic to prevent this happening.

  2. It’s an unfortunate situation that should have never happened. But with that said, the news media needs to have the proper information before it’s posted online. Ask me, I was the first vehicle hit…

    • I hope that you are ok Wes….I also feel for the families who lost loved ones. Did the eastbound driver cross over hitting you first then the Buick? Chatham Daily News as you said needs to get things right

  3. Queens line needs to be looked at by police. I drive this road everyday and the way people pass from the other direction is going to definitely cause a serious accident. I see it almost daily.

  4. I don’t feel that this is the appropriate time to post a picture of the accident scene; people passed away and their loved ones don’t need to see this at this particular time so close to the events.
