Broken window leads to charges

Chatham-Kent police say a local man is facing mischief charges after someone broke a vehicle’s window Thursday morning.

Officers got the call shortly after 7:30 a.m. to a business on Lowe Avenue. Police say a man was observed breaking a window on a vehicle on the property. A description of the man was provided to the police.

Police arrived and located the man a short distance away, and he was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Upon arrest, the man was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

A 44-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with uttering threats, mischief, and possession of a controlled substance.

Bail violation

It took less than a month for a man to find himself behind bars again, according to police.

A man was released from custody in late April with conditions including not being within 100 metres of a specific woman.

On May 17, police say that woman saw the man, and contacted them. Through investigation, police determined the man had violated his bail conditions.

On Thursday, the man turned himself into the police.

A 45-year-old Ridgetown man is charged with failing to comply with release conditions, and he was held pending a bail hearing.
