Failing to comply

Last June, a man was released by the courts with a condition to report to the Bail Supervision Program at the John Howard Society.

Earlier this month, police say the man failed to comply with this release condition. After several attempts to locate the man, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Tuesday, a 38-year-old Wallaceburg man attended police headquarters and turned himself in. He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released by the court with conditions and a future court date.

Domestic-related charges

On Friday, police responded to a domestic disturbance on King Street East in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned the man engaged in a verbal argument with the woman. The argument escalated when the man threw household items at the woman, causing her minor injuries, police say.

He also kicked her front door, causing damage.

The man left the residence prior to police arrival. Attempts to locate the man were unsuccessful and a warrant was issued for his arrest for charges of mischief, assault with a weapon and assault.

On Tuesday afternoon, police say the man attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and later released with conditions and a future court date.
