A 64th Chatham-Kent resident has died due to COVID-19, and there’s a new outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

According to CK Public Health, there are also 67 new cases since Wednesday, with a rolling per-day case average over the past week of 26.

In terms of the outbreak at CKHA, where there are six people hospitalized primarily due to COVID, as of this morning, there were also four cases of health-care acquired COVID-19 – where someone came into the hospital for treatment and caught COVID on site.

Hospital officials said the outbreak is on the Complex Continuing Care Unit, on the fourth floor at the Chatham site.

CK Public Health will work closely with CKHA to manage the outbreak, hospital officials said.

Public Health is also communicating with impacted patients and families for the contact tracing process.
