B&E, auto theft

Early yesterday morning, Chatham-Kent police received a call that a white 2018 Chevy Silverado had been stolen from a residence in Harwich Township.

A short time later, police received another call about a motor vehicle collision on Rose Beach Line and Antrim Road. The vehicle involved matched the description of the stolen Silverado.

Police attended the collision scene and confirmed it was the stolen vehicle. It had struck a pole and the driver had left the area.

Police K9 Helix was deployed and successfully located the man approximately one kilometre away.

The man was found exiting a shed on property that was not his, police say.

Through investigation it was determined he had broken into the trailer and then into a shed on this property.

A 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft of motor vehicle, failing to remain, possession of stolen property and two counts of breaking and entering.

Domestic-related charges

Shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, police received several calls regarding a domestic dispute in front of a Chatham residence.

Through investigation it was learned a physical altercation had occurred.

A 19-year-old Chatham man was arrested for assault and forcible confinement.

B&E charges

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to a break and enter.

A man was seen entering and exiting a recently vacant house.

Police attended and confirmed with the caretaker a break and enter occurred.

The man was identified through photos provided by a witness.

A 39-year-old Chatham man was located a short time later. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and breaking and entering.
