Cops assaulted

A Chatham man is facing a variety pack of charges after someone head butted officers after trying to flee from them on Saturday, according to Chatham-Kent police.

About 1:30 p.m. Saturday, officers on general patrol observed a man on Lacroix Street in Chatham that was currently wanted for breaching his release conditions.

Officers attempted to stop the male, however, he began to run and started jumping fences through neighbouring backyards.

After a foot chase, police located the guy on Emma Street.

The male refused to comply with demands made by the officers and, after a struggle, was placed under arrest.

While in custody, the male began to spit at officers, as well as kicking and head butting them.

While being transported to the station, the male caused damage the rear of the cruiser.

Once inside the station, the male caused further damage to the cellblock, resulting in further charges.

A 26-year-old Chatham man is charged with resisting a peace officer, two counts of assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats to cause death, and two counts of mischief. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

B&E in Chatham

Sometime overnight Saturday, someone entered a residence on Dundee Drive in Chatham by smashing the rear glass door.

Once inside, the suspects removed a Stihl Cement Saw valued at $1,200.

Threats, mischief and more 

Yesterday morning, police attended an address on Orchard Heights Boulevard in Chatham in regards to some unwanted contact.

As a result of the investigation, police found a 24-year old male of no fixed address to be breaching his release conditions.

The male was further charged with criminal harassment, uttering threats to cause death and mischief.

The man was located and arrested.

Warrant arrest

Yesterday at approximately 8 a.m., an officer on general patrol observed a male on Queen Street in Chatham.

A query of the male revealed that he was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

As a result, a Chatham man was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Breach arrest

Last night about 11:20 p.m., responded to a disturbance call on Westcourt Boulevard in Wallaceburg.

As a result of the investigation, a Walpole Island man was found to be breaching his release conditions.
