Chatham-Kent topped the 6,000-threshold over the weekend, in terms of how many local residents have had COVID-19 to date officially.
Countless others have likely endured the virus as well, as for the past month due to a high case count and a lack of testing, only high-risk cases were cleared for PCR testing to confirm the virus.
There are just 10 people in hospital primarily due to COVID-19. However there are 17 more at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with the virus who have other ailments.
Four people are in the ICU, three of whom are on ventilators. An additional four people are in the progressive care unit of the hospital with the virus.
Hospital officials report another death at CKHA on the weekend as well.
Four seniors homes and three congregate living settings comprise the areas still in outbreak locally.
