Fatal crash in Raleigh Township

Yesterday morning around 8 a.m., emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Dillon Road near Fifth Line.

Preliminary investigating has revealed that the man was travelling southbound on Dillon Road when he failed to negotiate the right-hand turn onto Fifth Line. The man left the roadway and came to rest in a nearby ditch.

The 65-year-old Blenheim man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

B&E in Bothwell

Yesterday afternoon around 12:30 p.m., an elderly woman observed a man in her home on St. Ignatius Line, claiming to be inside the residence to check her water.

The man fled when the woman confronted him.

The man was described as young, in his 20s and approximately 5-foot-6-inches in height.

He fled in a dark coloured pick-up truck and was last seen travelling towards Zone Centre Line.

When the man left, the woman noticed that her purse was missing.

Driving under suspension

Yesterday around 5:30 p.m., a member of the Traffic Unit initiated a traffic stop on Kent Bridge Road.

The driver, a 35-year-old Newmarket man, was charged with speeding, driving while under suspension, failing to have insurance and failing to surrender a permit for the vehicle.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Stunt driving charges

Last night, a member of the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on St. Clair Road.

The officer recorded the man driving 141 km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

A traffic stop was initiated and the 22-year-old Chatham man was charged with stunt driving.

His driver’s license was seized and has been suspended for 30 days. His vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for 14 days.

Stolen vehicle in Blenheim

Sometime over the past couple of weeks, someone stole a black 2004 GMC Yukon from a parking lot on Chatham Street South.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates CSFM 343.
