Two more Chatham-Kent residents died of COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing our number of deaths to 33 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Two men, one in his 70s and the other in his 80s, passed away in hospital.
There are 25 people at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance suffering from COVID-19, 23 of whom reside in the municipality.
Of the 25, 11 are unvaccinated.
Four are in the ICU, all of whom are on ventilators.
The average age of people hospitalized with the virus here is 71.
A total of 87 CKHA staffers are off either due to contracting COVID-19 or for being potentially exposed to the virus.
Around the municipality, 363 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Monday. That includes test results from Saturday and Sunday as well.
That bumped up the seven-day average to 105.
But Public Health officials say the numbers should be viewed “with caution,” as real numbers are likely substantially higher. As of Dec. 31, only high-risk people with symptoms are receiving PCR tests, which lead to these daily numbers.
There is a new place of outbreak today too, as a group home joins a list that includes five seniors’ residences.
