Chatham-Kent saw another 25 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, as the province experienced its biggest one-day surge in new cases, with 5,790, to date.
Locally, the active case count topped 160 again, despite 18 cases deemed resolved. The seven net increase brought our total to 162.
There are 13 people in hospital with COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, 11 of whom are local residents. Of the 13, 10 are unvaccinated, according to CKHA officials.
Four of the 13 are in the ICU and two are on ventilators.
The average age of those hospitalized here with COVID-19 is 65.
