Resisting arrest

On Saturday afternoon at about 3:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent police officers were called to a business on James St in Wallaceburg in regards to a shoplifting incident.

The suspect attempted to steal multiple items and when confronted by store staff, he assaulted them while attempting to flee, police say.

Upon Police arrival, the male resisted arrest, continuing to try and leave the store. After a brief struggle, the male was taken into custody.

A 31-year old Wallaceburg man is charged with theft and possession of stolen property, mischief, assault and resisting arrest.

B&E

At approximately 12:30 a.m. today, police attended an address on Joseph Street in Chatham in response to a call of a break and enter.

Someone forced their way into the home and stole a wallet that contained cash, credit cards and personal identification.

Crash leads to impaired charge

On Sunday at approximately 8 a.m., officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Grand River Line, Chatham.

The officer approached the vehicle and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of a drug.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation. As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

A 40-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving by drug.

Curfew breach

At approximately 4 a.m. today, an officer on general patrol observed a male party waking near Queen Street in Tilbury.

The man, known to police, was under a court order to obey a curfew between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

A 40-year-old Tilbury man is charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.
