Drug charges

On Wednesday night, Chatham-Kent police arrested a man wanted in connection with a fraud investigation.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

A 40-year-old man of no fixed address was additionally charged with drug possession.

Smashed window leads to charges

On Tuesday, Chatham-Kent police responded to a mischief complaint in downtown Chatham as the window of a parked vehicle had been smashed.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested.

A 31-year-old Chatham man is charged with mischief over $5,000.

Theft charges

On Wednesday, Chatham-Kent police responded to the theft of an iPad from a business in the downtown Chatham area.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible and he was arrested yesterday afternoon.

A 39-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

Failing to comply

In late August, a man was released from court with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence unless with his surety or for medical reasons and not to possess more than one cellphone.

Yesterday around noon, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg observed the man walking alone on Victoria Street. The man fled on foot, but was taken into custody a short distance away.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of two cellphones.

A 42-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants.

Around 5:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a family dispute at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man left his residence last night to go visit a family member, regardless of being bound by a curfew of 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The man returned home this morning at 5 a.m. under the influence of alcohol, even though he is currently bound by a condition not to be outside of his residence with alcohol in his body.

A 19-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Theft of ATV in Bothwell

Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, someone stole a dark green 2011 Polaris Sportsman ATV from a residence on Zone 5 Road.

The ATV was last seen with Ontario license plate 5RX43.
