Cherie Vandevenne of Sombra protests Monday outside the office of Chatham-Kent–Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls.

The protest was a fight for more equitable conditions and funding for long-term care in Ontario.

Vandevenne said her mother Doreen Lucier, a former personal support worker herself, had poor care in a private care home and she had to fight to get her now-deceased mother moved elsewhere.

MPP’s offices across Ontario were targeted. Organizers are calling for change, particularly in the way the Ministry of Long-Term Care funding is dispensed, calling for an end to for-profit care.
