Batten down the hatches and bring your umbrella Wednesday.
Environment Canada is forecasting “significant” rainfall tonight and through Wednesday.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to begin this evening and will continue through at least Wednesday night.
Rainfall amounts of 50 to 60 millimeters are expected by early Thursday morning with locally higher amounts in excess of 75 mm in areas that receive multiple thunderstorms.
This rainfall is due to a cold front and a moisture-laden low-pressure system
that will arrive from the American Mid-west, according to Environment Canada.
A reminder that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
