Another vacant Chatham school is up for sale.
The former St. Vincent’s school on McNaughton Avenue is now surplus to the Catholic school board following the opening of the new St. Angela Merici School in 2020.
According to St. Clair Catholic District School Board public information officer Todd Lozon, the property was first offered to an approved list of public-sector agencies.
However there were no takers, so the school is on the open market.
The board has one remaining surplus property in its Chatham portfolio.
Monsignor Uyen Catholic School on Lark Street closed in June 2021 and its teachers and students are being relocated to the new site of Monsignor Uyen School on Baldoon Road. Classes will begin there in September.
Closing schools is part of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board’s plan to consolidate its school population while also modernizing its infrastructure.
Anyone interested in the St. Vincent property is invited to message purchasing@st-clair.net.
