Another person has died from COVID-19, bringing the death toll from the virus in Chatham-Kent to 16.
The patient was a man in his 70s. His case was not related to the recent outbreak of the virus in the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Medicine Unit.
Although the number of active cases in the municipality went up slightly over the weekend rising to 18, the number of people hospitalized with the illness dropped to five.
Four of those patients are in the medicine unit and one is on a ventilator in the ICU.
The hospital’s ICU capacity is at 50 per cent. Four of the COVID-19 cases are being treated in the medicine unit, which is currently sitting at 84-per-cent capacity.
Four new cases and two recoveries were reported to Chatham-Kent Public Health over the weekend.
Only one out-of-town COVID-19 patient is being treated in Chatham.
