Busted

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for theft and possession of property obtained by crime.

On Sunday at approximately 9:15 a.m., police responded to a theft complaint at a Wallaceburg business.

The suspect was captured on video taking an MP3 player and placing it into his coat pocket. The male then ran towards the front door exit of the store, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise.

The accused, a 23-year-old Chatham man, remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Saturday morning, police responded to a break and enter to an apartment on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.

Sometime overnight, an unknown person entered the apartment and took electronics and other household items. The investigation is ongoing and there are currently no suspects.

Early Sunday morning, police responded to a break and enter to a business on Marsh Street in Ridgetown as a result of a motion alarm being set off.

Unknown person forced entry through a garage door to the warehouse and took several dried marijuana branches valuing approximately $5,000-$10,000. The investigation is ongoing and there are currently no suspects.

Bail violations

Saturday afternoon, police received information of a male possibly at a residence on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.

The male was on conditions not to attend the residence.

Police attended and located the male in the backyard of the property.

A 31-year old male was arrested for Failing to Comply with Undertaking, transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for booking and held for bail.

Saturday night, an officer on general patrol in the area of Raleigh Street in Chatham located a male who was found to be in breach of his curfew.

A 36-year old male was arrested for two counts of Failing to Comply with Undertaking, transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for booking and held for bail.

Saturday night, an officer on general patrol in Chatham conducted a routine traffic stop in the area of Richmond Street.

A male and a female were located in the vehicle and through investigation the male was found to be on a Release Order with conditions not to communicate with the female.

A 42-year old male was arrested for failing to comply with his Release Order and a 31-year old female was arrested for Facilitating the Breach.
