Knife + hammer + people = arrests

Last night, around 8 p.m. police responded to a large disturbance between a group of people known to each other on Kirk Street in Chatham, involving a knife and hammer.

Five folks are now facing charges and three people suffered minor injuries.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.

A 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being in possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.

A 22-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of assault.

A 22-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault.

An 18-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault.

Domestic-related charges

Yesterday, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Charing Cross.

Police say while officers were present, the man spat in the woman’s face. Through investigation, police learned that the man had previously threatened the woman during their relationship.

A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats.
