Chatham-Kent police arrested a local man for a slew of child pornography and other sexual charges.
Last week, after receiving information from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre, the Chatham-Kent police Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Major Crime Unit entered into an investigation in which credible evidence suggested that a Chatham-Kent child was being actively exploited online.
Police say the urgent nature of the information led to a multi-unit approach, with the intent of rescuing the child from their abuser and bringing the man responsible to justice.
As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been arrested and charged with making, distributing and possessing child pornography, as well as voyeurism, sexual assault and sexual interference.
In order to protect the identity of the victim, the man’s name will not be released.
He has been remanded into custody pending a future court date.
