Part of the centre of Chatham was divided this morning following a serious morning collision involving a train.
Chatham-Kent police say the collision took place about 6 a.m. near William Street. As of 9 a.m., the westbound train’s engine was partially blocking Queen Street, several hundred meters away from the point of collision.
In all, CP Rail crossings between Adelaide Street and Jeffrey Street are blocked as the investigation continues, police say.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
The Traffic Unit has taken over the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Josh Flikweert at joshuaf@chatham-kent.ca or 519-355-1092.
