A Blenheim man faces multiple assault and drug charges following a disturbance in Chatham Sunday night.

Police say as a result of a domestic disturbance, a 27-year-old Chatham woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Her assailant was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, police say.

He was taken to hospital for suspected drug use. While being examined, he assaulted the ER doctor, police say.

A 31-year-old Blenheim man is charged with domestic-related offences, assault, and two counts of drug possession.

A day after someone stole items out of a Creek Road business, Chatham-Kent police nabbed someone trying to cash a stolen cheque from that business.

Police say the break-in occurred sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning, when someone forced their way into the business, doing about $200 in damage, and stealing about $3,000 in property and tools.

On Sunday afternoon, officers got the call to attend Money Mart on St. Clair Street as police say a man was trying to cash a cheque stolen from the business.

Bradley Spiers, 34, of Chatham, is charged with possession of stolen property, fraud and uttering a forged document.

Last night, police responded to a local motel in regards to an unwanted man.

Through investigation, police identified the man and learned that he was currently wanted for failing to attend court.

Anthony St. Jacques, 24 years, of William Street in Chatham was arrested and released pending a future court date.

Shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, police responded to an alarm at Pharmasave on Queen Street in Tilbury.

Upon arrival, police observed that the front glass door had been smashed. Once inside, the suspect(s) attempted to enter a safe.

Total damage was estimated at $1,500.  A white lab coat valued at $25 was stolen.

No narcotics were stolen.

The suspect is described as a white man, late 30s with an average build. He was last seen wearing a dark coloured hoodie, coat, blue jeans, white running shoes, gloves and half face mask.

Sometime over the weekend, someone stole a black trailer from a residence on Chatham Street South, containing a John Deere zero turn Z335 lawn mower and John Deere zero turn Z335R lawn mower.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at approximately $10,000.
