Chatham-Kent OPP report they captured a man wanted by Toronto police for attempted murder.

It began on the westbound lanes of Highway 401. The OPP received a tip the man was heading west on the highway and was near Chatham.

Officers located the suspect and tried to get him to pull over. He instead fled, police say, and a short, low-speed pursuit ensued.

The officers managed to bring the suspect’s vehicle to a stop, but at that moment, he rammed two OPP cruisers, police say, causing moderate damage.

The suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of the OPP canine unit and Moraviantown police, who were working in the area and assisted, police say.

The 401 westbound lanes were closed for a couple of hours as police investigated, and the OPP said that investigation is ongoing.
