What do you do when you are riding your bike and are approached by a police officer?
Most of us would stop and listen to what the cop had to say. Well, it appears one Chatham man’s response was to pedal away, toss the bike over a fence and try to flee on foot. Do you wonder how that worked out for him? Read on.
Chatham-Kent police report an officer tried to stop a man on a bike about 3 a.m. today on Park Avenue, as the man was riding without proper lights.
But the person, police say, wouldn’t stop and eventually threw his bike over a fence before fleeing on foot.
But following a short foot chase, the officer took the man into custody on St. Anthony Street.
A search found the man to be in possession of break-in tools, as well as a quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
A 35-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply with a probation order by breaching his curfew, possession of break-in tools and two counts of drug possession.
