Thames Street arrests abound

A ditched vehicle ultimately led to charges for two folks Monday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said they learned a vehicle was in the ditch on New Scotland Line near Hill Road about 7:30 a.m. Monday. They found a man and a woman walking westbound.

Investigation revealed the two were in the vehicle when it went into the ditch as they tried to turn around.

A 33-year-old London man and a 32-year-old Creemore woman are charged with failing to comply with their release conditions, as they were to not communicate with one another.

In other police news, an officer stopped a man about 9 p.m. last night while he rode his bike near Thames and Fifth streets. Police say the man was stopped for Highway Traffic Act infractions and for breaching his curfew, but a search revealed he was in possession of a multi-tool, flashlight, metal snips, wrench, sawzal blade, spark plug, and meth.

A 35-year-old Chatham man is charged with drug possession and two counts of failing to comply.

The cops also arrested another man in a parking lot on Thames Street last night.

A 60-year-old Chatham man is charged with fraud and uttering a forged document.

A few hours later, on the same street, police located another man wanted in connection with a fraud investigation.

A 48-year-old Chatham man is charged with fraud and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Thames Street remained a hotbed for arrests, as at 5:30 a.m. today, an officer on patrol spotted a man wanted in connection with a domestic investigation. Police say the man was on his bike at the time.

A 41-year-old Chatham man is charged with two counts of assault.
