From stolen shoes to obstructing police, it was a bit of a strange night in Chatham Sunday.
Chatham-Kent police say an officer spotted a man wanted by St. Thomas police Sunday night. He was riding his bike on Fourth Street in Chatham, and the officer pulled him over, only to receive a fake name.
As the officer went to arrest the man, police say he resisted, pushing the officer and then fleeing on foot.
He didn’t get far.
A 33-year-old Chatham man is charged with obstruct police and assaulting a police officer.
Also last night, an officer found a man in a Thames Street parking lot who police say was wanted for breaching a probation order.
As he was being searched, police say officers found him to be in possession of four live 12-guage shotgun shells, a violation of that probation order, and he was wearing a pair of stolen shoes that went missing from a vehicle over the weekend.
Another 33-year-old Chatham man is charged with possession of ammunition contrary to a probation order, and possession of stolen property.
