Peering into parked cars landed two men in hot water with police last night.

Chatham-Kent police say a concerned citizen called the cops about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday to report the men were checking out parked vehicles on Coverdale Street in Chatham. The caller provided a description of the men.

Police say officers found the guys on McNaughton Avenue East, one inside a variety store and the other outside.

The man inside the store, police say, had release conditions back in November that stated he could not be inside a retail establishment unless accompanied by an adult without a criminal record.

As an officer went to arrest that man, police say he fled, but was apprehended after a short foot chase and struggle.

A 21-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply and resisting arrest.

Meanwhile, the second man got arrested as police say he tried to prevent the officer from arresting the first guy.

A 27-year-old Chatham man is charged with obstructing police.
