So, the supposedly stolen car wasn’t really stolen, police say.
Officers responded to the site of an abandoned vehicle in a field on Eighth Line near Merlin Road Thursday morning.
The owner subsequently reported the vehicle, a 2017 Porsche Cayenne, as stolen.
But through investigation, police learned that wasn’t the case.
A 20-year-old Chatham man is charged with public mischief, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
