Chatham-Kent police are seeking information on who did $10,000 in damage sometime overnight Sunday or early Monday morning inside a construction area near the Fifth Street Bridge.

Police say sometime between 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday, someone broke into a construction trailer parked near Fifth and Thames streets. Once inside, they stole about $100 in copper wiring.

But they also did about $10,000 in damage inside the construction area. Municipal engineering officials say the culprit(s) sliced electrical wires feeding streetlights along the bridge deck, and they damaged lighting and ductwork under the bridge along Simcoe Lane.

Officials say this will likely delay of the completion of construction in the area.
