Remember that complaint from two Chatham teenagers of a suspicious man? Turns out, they made it up.

Police had reported that a man in his 50s drove up to the two teens on Princess Street early Friday morning. But investigation determined the complaint was bogus.

Chatham-Kent police personnel remind everyone that making a false statement to the police is a criminal offence.

Parents are urged to speak to their children about lying to police. Officers in this instance spent hours canvassing the area and trying to obtain video surveillance of the incident in an effort to identify the suspicious man for public safety reasons.
