Before we came out of our deep freeze, a couple of fires broke out as homeowners tried to defeat the frost.
On Friday afternoon, a man was trying to thaw out frozen pipes with an electric heater and a handheld heat gun, when the wall caught fire in the Front Line home near Blenheim.
Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the flames, but not before about $20,000 damage had been done.
That same afternoon, after being unable to start his car in the carport of his Longwoods home near Thamesville, a homeowner tried to warm up the vehicle, as well as charge the battery.
This ended in disaster as the two vehicles in the carport caught fire.
Firefighters doused the flames, but not before about $80,000 in damage took place.
