Chatham resident killed by train

Chatham-Kent police continue to investigate a fatality where a pedestrian was hit by a train.

Police say shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday night, emergency crews received the call that someone got hit by an eastbound VIA train at the railway crossing on Pump Road in Raleigh Township.

The pedestrian, a resident of Chatham, suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say out of respect for the family, they aren’t releasing any additional details at this time.

No one was hurt on the train.
