It took a couple of weeks, but a man released from custody pending an investigation was back in custody Monday night and will now answer to charges.

Police say on Boxing Day, officers responding to a report of a suspicious person near the Black Bridge in Chatham picked up a man for breaching the peace. A search produced mail, including various documents and cheques, that didn’t belong to him.

He was released, pending the investigation.

Officers since learned the mail was stolen from external mailboxes belonging to two separate businesses in Chatham.

So, on Monday night, police located the man and he was arrested.

A 36-year-old Moraviantown man is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property.
